The Batmobile keychain, made of high-quality materials, allows you to openly exhibit your affection for the Bat - particularly the Adam West period of cornball, campy Batman. This keychain, which represents the Batmobile from the 1960s in all of its vintage splendour, is a must-have for fans of the classic Batman television series and movies.
The Batmobile from the 1966œ1968 live-action television series and its cinematic version started life as a 1955 Ford Lincoln Futura concept vehicle. Ghia of Italy crafted the Futura's body, which was created by hammering the vehicle's panels over logs and tree stumps cut as shapes to produce the sleek manta ray-like automobile. The Futura was featured in the film It Started With A Kiss, starring Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford, in 1959, with a new red paint job. ABC-TV commissioned legendary Hollywood customizer George Barris to create a "Batmobile" for their soon-to-be-produced Batman programme in 1965. Dean Jeffries designed and built the Batmobile using a 1959 Cadillac, but when the studio demanded the vehicle sooner than he could provide, he handed it back to George Barris. With barely three weeks to complete the project, Barris decided that rather than building a car from the ground up, he would turn a $1.00 Lincoln Futura into the iconic crime-fighting vehicle of TV's caped crusader. Bill Cushenberry was contracted by Barris to make the car's metal modifications. Due to the car's age, various issues developed while filming: it overheated, the battery died, and the pricey Mickey Thompson tyres continued to blow. The engine and gearbox were replaced with a Ford Galaxie by mid-season. The most noticeable aesthetic effect of this automobile is that subsequent Batmobiles often include a back rocket thruster that ignites when the car accelerates quickly.
