Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the sixth of seven instalments in the wizarding franchise, and it's now available in Top Trumps form. Pit 30 wonderful wizards against each other in a battle of statistics, and relive magical moments from the movie adaptation of the book.
Top Trumps, which was first played in 1978, was a card game that was popular with both adults and children in the United Kingdom throughout the 1970s and 1980s, particularly among boys, who used it as a popular playground diversion. The themes covered tended to be representative of this, and included military gear, ways of transportation, and racing automobiles. It was common for the packs to be priced in such a way that youngsters could accumulate fresh packs by collecting pocket money for a few weeks.
Top Trumps was first introduced in 1978, with eleven distinct packs costing for 50p each and being marketed by a firm called Dubreq. The game has been around since then. Dubreq was also well-known for his invention, the Stylophone. Dubreq was acquired by Waddingtons in 1982, and the company continued to produce packets until the early 1990s. Packs from this time period are now considered collectible.
