Enter The World Of Pandora: Borderlands Movie
Releasing this August, the Borderlands Movie is based on the massively popular looter shooter game of the same name. The Borderlands franchise is a series of action-packed, first-person shooter games with RPG elements set on the chaotic planet of Pandora. Players choose from unique characters called Vault Hunters, each with special abilities, to embark on quests for hidden treasures and alien technology. The game is well known for its quirky humour and cell-shaded art style, so fans are excited to see how this will translate into a live-action movie.
What Is The Borderlands Movie Going To Be About?
The Borderlands movie, directed by Eli Roth, aims to bring the chaotic, humour-filled world of Pandora from the video game series to the big screen.
The plot follows Lilith's return to Pandora on a mission to rescue the missing daughter of Atlas, the most powerful and ruthless man in the universe. She assembles a team of misfits, each with their skills and troubled pasts. Together, they face off against alien creatures and bandits to protect the girl, who holds the key to unimaginable power.
Gearbox founder and CEO Randy Pitchford also revealed that the movie is designed to be the first instalment in a broader Borderlands Cinematic Universe. This cinematic universe will coexist with the video game universe but feature independent storylines.
Who Is Going To Be In The Borderlands Movie?
The Borderlands movie features a star-studded cast bringing the beloved characters from the video game series to life.
First up is Lilith, played by Cate Blanchet. She is an infamous outlaw and a powerful siren who has mystical abilities, playable in the first Borderlands game.
Also one of the main characters who was playable in Borderlands is Roland. Portrayed by Kevin Hart in the movie, he is a soldier with expertise in combat and leadership.
One of the most popular and well-known characters in the Borderlands series, Claptrap returns for the movie. This time he is portrayed by the loveable Jack Black, who we are sure will provide plenty of comic relief.
Played by Jamie Lee Curtis, Dr. Patricia Tannis is an eccentric and brilliant researcher with a deep understanding of technology. In the movie, she contributes her knowledge to help find Atlas’s daughter.
Tiny Tina, originally introduced in Borderlands 2 as an unstable but genius explosives expert, will be played by Ariana Greenblatt in the movie. Her unpredictable behaviour and tragic backstory make her a beloved character in the series.
Finally, there's Krieg, a playable character in Borderlands 2, he is a Psycho who retains some of his sanity and fights for the Vault Hunters. His dual personality provides depth and a mix of humour and tragedy.
These characters have some differences from the games when brought to the big screen, however, we are sure the actors portraying them will bring a unique take to their storylines.
A fan of the games or never played them before, we can guarantee this movie will have something for everyone. Check out the trailer below and be ready for its release this summer.
