What To Expect From Godzilla X Kong | Maqio Toys

Two epic titans reunite in Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire! These iconic beasts have been on the big screen for years and are finally teaming up to take down a new threat. But before we discuss what to expect from this new instalment, just who are Godzilla and King Kong?

Godzilla is a fictional giant monster originating from Japanese cinema, first appearing in the 1954 film Godzilla. Created as a metaphor for nuclear weapons, Godzilla has since become a cultural icon, appearing in numerous films, TV shows, comics, and video games. Often depicted as a towering, dinosaur-like creature with atomic breath and immense strength, Godzilla has been both a destructive force and a protector of Earth, evolving in various ways throughout its extensive history in popular media. Now, Godzilla continues to be a prominent figure in popular culture, appearing in the 2014 Hollywood reboot "Godzilla". This is the film that kicks off the Monsterverse.

King Kong is a fictional giant ape character originating from the 1933 film of the same name. Created by filmmaker Merian C. Cooper, King Kong has since become an iconic figure in popular culture, appearing in various films, television shows, and other media.

He came into the Monsterverse film series first being introduced in the 2017 film Kong: Skull Island. These portrayals often explore Kong as a more sympathetic and intelligent creature, emphasising his connection to his natural habitat and his role as a protector of his island.

Finally, both these beasts clashed in Godzilla vs. Kong, ending with Kong returning to the Hollow Earth and Godzilla retreating into the sea.

Following this explosive battle, The New Empire sees the two teaming up to take down a monumental new threat lurking within the world's depths. This threat poses a danger not only to their existence but to humanity itself. The film also seems to be exploring the origins of Godzilla and Kong, and the mysteries surrounding Skull Island and beyond.

The film will also follow a group of humans, such as Rebecca Hall’s character Dr. Ilene Andrews, who is a monster expert,  Brian Tyree Henry who plays conspiracy theorist Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle who is Kong's young companion Jia. Various other cast members have yet to be revealed, but we’re looking forward to seeing who is going to make an appearance, new and old.  The director of Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Adam Wingard, previously directed the Godzilla Vs. Kong film. This makes it the first time in the Monsterverse that a director has returned.

Originally scheduled to release on March 15th 2024, it was delayed to April 12th. Now, however, it has been moved up by two weeks, so you can catch the beasts returning to the big screen on March 29th 2024. Check out the trailer below.
