Pokemon Day!

February 27th marks national Pokemon day! The best selling video game franchise will be turning 27 this year, find out more about the history of the franchise and how you can celebrate it below!

Pokemon Day is an annual event to mark the release of the first ever Pokemon games made: Pokemon Red and Green. They were introduced in 1996, taking Japan by storm and later, the world! Kids all around the globe were catching and trading all 151 of the original Pokemon and that hasn't stopped today. As of 2023 over 1000 different Pokemon species have been created, 122 games have been released, 23 films and over 1200 episodes of the hit tv show have been made, so no matter where you look, there's bound to be something Pokemon!

So how can you celebrate Pokemon Day? Well, the first and most obvious one is to play some Pokemon games. There are plenty of choices, like Pokemon Go, which became a massive hit in 2016 and is a free mobile game where you can catch and collect Pokemon - in the real world! If gaming isn't your thing, you could try something a little different like baking some Pokemon themed cakes or cookies, maybe in the shape of Pokeballs. These are just some of the fun activities you could do to honour Pokemon Day.

There's something for everyone to get involved with, no matter the age, so join Pikachu and friends here at Maqio Toys in celebration of an amazing frachise. We have great deals on all things Pokemon, so you'll be able to find something for every child. How about our battle packs? Which feature a selection of battle ready Pokemon for immersive play. With a vast selection of Pokemon for them to collect, there's something for every child here at Maqio Toys.
